Insert Videos Into Non-Email Text Editor Fields

Insert a Video Into a Text Editor Field

[alert heading=”” type=”alert-info” block=”false” close=”false”]You can only insert a video into a non-email text field.  Videos cannot be uploaded to the File Manager.[/alert]

Option 1: Inserting a YouTube video: (preferred)

  1. Edit any Text Editor Field
  2. From the “Insert” menu, select “Insert/edit video”
  3. Click on the “General” tab
  4. In the “Source” field, enter the URL for the video
  5. Optional: Enter an alternative source (URL) to use if the source for the video is not available
  6. Optional: Specify an image in the “Poster” field that will show up as the video is loading and before the user presses play
  7. Optional: Override the dimensions (height, width) in pixels for the video
  8. Click the [Ok] button to insert the video into the Text Editor field

Option 2: Inserting a non-YouTube video:

  1. Edit any Text Editor Field
  2. From the “Insert” menu, select “Insert/edit video”
  3. Click on the “Embed” tab
  4. Paste in the embed code (HTML). Be sure that the link is prefixed with “https” (i.e. a secure link) If the link to you video does not begin with https, you should not use it.
  5. Click the [Ok] button to insert the video into the Text Editor field

Option 3: Inserting a video from OneDrive:

  1. Go to the OneDrive website (you might need to sign in with your Microsoft account)
  2. Pick the file you want to embed by selecting the check box in the upper-right corner of the file
  3. Click “Embed” on the top of the page and then choose “Generate”
  4. Copy the code that is generated
  5. In Volunteer Impact, edit any Text Editor Field
  6. From the “Insert” menu, select “Insert/edit video”
  7. Click on the “Embed” tab
  8. Paste in the embed code (HTML). Be sure that the link is prefixed with “https” (i.e. a secure link) If the link to you video does not begin with https, you should not use it.
  9. Click the [Ok] button to insert the video into the Text Editor field
